Tyla Bags Nominations at BET Awards

Tyla is flying the South African flag high after she was nominated for not one, but FOUR awards at the 2024 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

On Thursday, 16 May, the BET Network announced this year’s nominees, and the 22-year-old songstress from Edenvale, Gauteng scored herself nods in four categories.

Per the list, Tyla has been nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, alongside the likes of Beyoncé, Doja Cat, H.E.R., Muni Long and SZA.

Additionally, Tyla has a chance of winning awards for Best New Artist and Best International Act, as well as the Viewer’s Choice Award for her 2023 global hit, “Water”.

Other names from the African continent include Ayra Starr, Makhadzi and Burna Boy, who also received nominations in various categories.

Tyla has been on a roll as of late: from snatching a Grammy for “Water” in February, to wowing the Internet with her stunning Met Gala outfit earlier this month, she’s clearly establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

The BET Awards is set to air on 30 June – here’s hoping that Tyla will take home a couple of trophies!
